Pictured Bob Bartz, Adrian Schoen, Rachel Miller, Joe Solhied, Jenny Han, Adam Berrier, Wayt Hammell, Sandra Burke Winona State University students of Delta Sigma Pi Kappa Upsilon students took a special interest in WCF wanting to learn more about our community foundation. The students were interested in learning how individuals or organizations participate in philanthropy with-out starting their own fund? It was a delightful conversation of learning about what their fraternity is working towards and enlightening them about how community foundations operate. To our surprise after reviewing the different avenues of giving, the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity chose to provide a gift to the Youth in Philanthropy program from money raised at a recent penny challenge held on campus. WCF is very thankful for the generous gift of $702.29 from the students. Yet, they went further than just making the cash donation; they wanted to give of their time as well. When asked if they would like to volunteer at our “Thanks for Giving” event there never was a hesitation, the answer was yes and how many volunteers do you need. The organization stepped up and met out need of six student leaders to staff the event. Their professionalism and generosity is a shining example of the giving spirit alive and well at Winona State University.. WCF is thankful that these leaders of tomorrow have an interest in philanthropy and are involved in our community. Having made this connection, these students have made a difference and an impact in our community through their interest in WCF. It is the time of the year we all reflect on how to support causes that recharge us. As a community foundation we take it upon ourselves to be aware the needs of the Winona community and of the various Winona organizations.
